Maggie Wilson's Pre-nup Video Creates Buzz

Beauty queen-turned-actress Maggie Wilson and fiancé Victor Consunji generated a big buzz days after their "hot and steamy" pre-nuptial video dominated the cyberspace.

Created by one of the premier Filipino videographers in the country, Jason Magbanua posted the video on video-sharing website Vimeo on November 27 (http://vimeo.com/17231058).

In the three-minute video, the soon-to-wed couple was shown kissing passionately on the stairs, car, bed, and swimming pool.

Though a handful of comments were generally positive, saying the video was "super hot" and "profoundly artistic," many individuals and conservative groups were scandalized with its approach and concept.

Others expressed disapproval after watching the video, commenting it was "inappropriate."

"It's a great video but totally inappropriate to show during the wedding reception, if they are. Imagine lolo, tatay, father-in-law, best man, male sponsors, brother, brother of the groom, uncles, father's friends, male friends, underage cousins, nephews, waiters watching this. geez," commented wonderlass on Vimeo.

User Lee Tallod agreed it was inappropriate for a pre-nup, but nevertheless praised Magbanua for his creation.

"WOW!! impressive! kudos to Jason Magbanua! But for pre-nup I think inappropriate..it breaks our tradition.. what is the real meaning of a wedding.. ;( no offense.."

In an interview with entertainment website Philippine Entertainment Portal, Wilson said they came up with a different prenuptial video because “we wanted to revolutionize wedding videos.”

"Halos lahat ng wedding videos, puro pa-cute, puro pa-sweet, and we wanted to do something different. Yung nakakaintriga talaga," the 21-year-old actress said. "The original reaction that we wanted to get from the people is we want to make them feel uncomfortable."

Contrary to what others deem, both of the couple's parents have watched and even liked the video.

Wilson and Consunji will tie the knot on December 18, 2010.

Ogie, Regine wish for baby boy after the wedding

In just a couple of days, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez will finally tie the knot in what is said to be the "wedding of the year" come Decemeber 22, 2010. So, what's next for this couple?

Regine has openly expressed in previous interviews that she wanted to have a baby soon. Both she and Ogie are wishing for a baby boy.

"Actually, kung kami po ay papalarin at bibiyayaan ng Panginoon ng anak na lalaki, pangatlong Herminio sana.." Ogie said. Herminio is the singer/songwriter's real name.

"Maganda sana 'yun dahil wala pa akong anak na lalaki. At parang gusto naman ni Regine ng anak na lalaki," he said. "[But] whatever the Lord grants, of course, we will accept and be very thankful for that."

Ogie has two daughters with ex-wife Michelle Van Eimeren, namely Leila and Sarah. If lucky, he wants to add a little 'Herminio' to the Alcasid family.

"[But of course] si Regine hindi na rin naman ganoon kadaling magkaroon ng baby. If we will be granted by God with a child, we'll be very, very grateful and thankful."

Meanwhile, Michelle, former beauty queen hailing from Australia, will not only attend Ogie's second wedding but will also help in its preparations.

"Si Michelle ang gagawa noong flowers ng entourage at ng pinaka-boquet ni Regine," Ogie said.

As for the floral arrangement in the wedding reception, florist Badang Rueda will be the one in charged.

For his two daughters, Leila will be the bridesmaid and Sarah will serve as the Bible bearer if permitted in a Christian wedding.

In earlier interviews, both Ogie and Regine expressed their decision not to have a honeymoon because of their hectic schedules and showbiz commitments right after the wedding.

Instead, the couple will have a short family outing in Bohol which is like, according to Ogie, a "Christmas outing" for the whole family.

With just a couple of days left before the wedding, last minute preparations are being handled "in every detail. Regine and I are preparing ourselves spiritually with some people," Ogie said.

Ogie was also asked if President Aquino would attend the wedding, and the groom confirmed that PNoy would be one of the groomsmen.

More details on Prince William-Kate Middleton Royal Wedding

After several rumours and speculations about the details of the wedding, the date and location of Prince William and Kate Middleton have been finally confirmed.

Dubbed as the Royal Wedding of the Century, the nuptials is set to happen on April 29, 20100 at the Westminster Abbey, city of London.

The abbey is a traditional royal matrimony site where the weddings of Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mother occurred. The funeral of Prince William’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, was also held there.

“The venue has long associations with the royal family — it is, in many ways, the royal family’s church — and, of course, with William personally,” Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the prince’s private secretary, told reporters.

Charles and Diana, Prince William’s parents, were married in St. Paul’s Cathedral, but after 15 years the couple divorced, as did three other royal weddings at Westminster Abbey in the past 50 years.
However, he marriage of Prince William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, to Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey survived the test of time and has endured since 1947.  After six years, the queen was crowned at the abbey in June 1953, almost a year after the death of her father King George VI.

The wedding next April is predicted to attract millions around the world, just like  Charles and Diana’s royal wedding.

As for the priest officiating the wedding, sources reveal that the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams will most likely grace the matrimony.

The Reverent Michael Macey, senior minor canon at Westminster Abbey, has been put in charge of drawing up the service. Weekly meetings have started to sort out the arrangements.

Meanwhile, Britain's Prince Minister David Cameron has declared the April 29 as a national holiday to let Britons join and witness the royal festivities.

“We want to mark the day as one of national celebration. A public holiday will ensure the most people possible will have a chance to celebrate on the day,” Cameron said.
Furthermore, the British President said that the wedding, as anticipated by many, will be a “happy and momentous occasion.”

However, those who cannot be at the actual wedding can still feel like they're attending the "real deal.'

Because of the major buzz and excitement of the crowd, British stations are considering airing the royal wedding in 3-D.

But if ever the plan pushes through, getting featured in 3-D will not be a new experience for the royal family. Queen Elizabeth's coronation was filmed in 3-D as well. The 17-minute video was shown on television in both Britain and Canada.

Prince William Finally Engaged; Royal Wedding in 2011

After eight years of being together, Prince William finally proposed to his girlfriend, Kate Middleton, and sealed the deal with his late mother’s engagement ring.

The royal family in Britain announced the engagement last Nov. 15, which has been widely anticipated in the past few months. Second-in-line to the throne, Prince William gave his fiancée the ring that originally belonged to Princess Diana—an oval sapphire ring surrounded by diamonds.

The wedding is set to take place in spring or summer of 2011.  It is said to be the grandest royal wedding since the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer happened almost 30 years ago.
According to Prince Charles Clarence House office, the heir to the British throne got engaged a month ago during the couple’s vacation in Kenya.

In an official statement, the office also confirmed that Prince William informed his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, about the engagement. He also sought the permission of Middleton's father.

A tweet showed from the Queen’s official Twitter account saying, “the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are absolutely delighted at the news of Prince William and Catherine Middleton's engagement.”

A tweet from Prince Charles said: “The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton."

Prince Harry, William’s younger brother, also tweeted: “I am delighted that my brother popped the question. It means I get a sister, which I have always wanted."

PNOY and Liz Uy to Tie the knot on October 2011?

Rumors have circulated that President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino and his official stylist, Liz Uy, will have a Philippine wedding on October 11, 2011.

According to sources, the wedding will be held on the same date as the wedding of PNoy’s parents, former President Corazon Aquino and former Senator Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino. However, Liz Uy denied off the reports through her Twitter account. Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office Secretary Ricky Carandang said that he does not know about the ‘wedding’ and that he does not meddle with the personal life of the President.

After months on being mum about his breakup with ex-girlfriend Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad, Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, the President’s older sister, confirmed their breakup during the birthday celebration of Vice President Jejomar Binay. Speaking about the issue, she said that she is not aware that the two are actually a couple or engaged.

During the 18th APEC Leaders' Meeting in Yokohama, Japan, President Aquino indirectly confirmed that he is indeed dating Liz Uy. "We have been spending time together as our schedules would permit, but I guess, at this point in time, that is the extent of it," said President Aquino.

Asked by the press if this could be considered "panliligaw" (courting), the president replied: "Yung at the present time, I'm just recovering also from a recent engagement, and there's just too many things. And the schedules on both sides are such that it's difficult to find common time, and especially when you are not given private time."

Robin and Mariel to have Catholic Wedding by Christmas, Clarified Baguio Wedding Issue

Controversial newlywed couple Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez clarified the issue that surrounded their Baguio wedding held last September 13. Furthermore, they announced that they will have a Philippine church wedding ceremony before the year ends.

In an interview with Tina Monzon Palma last September 21, Robin finally broke his silence and set the record straight about the status of his relationship with the TV host-actress. He said that he and Mariel tied the knot last August 19 at the Taj Mahal in Agra, India. Asked if Padilla asked for Mariel's hand in marriage from her parents, the 'Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema' gave a vague reply.

Prior to the confession, Robin left the country last August 9 to go to India for the duration of the Ramadan. Eight days after, Mariel followed him and this was when they actually tied the knot in India. When they got back, reports surfaced that the two indeed got married but they kept mum about it. Then, on September 13, news broke out that the two got married in an Ibaloi wedding ceremony done in Baguio City.

During the same interview, Mariel said that they weren’t the ones who came up with the Baguio ‘wedding photos.' According to her, the alleged Ibaloi wedding ritual was a war dance and a display of the Ibaloi culture. This statement is contrary to what mamburao Jimmy Ong said when the Baguio wedding came out.

Mariel, in a separate interview, said that they will have a Philippine Catholic wedding before the year ends. The second wedding will be for their family and friends here. She said that the reason why they kept quiet about the real status of their relationship is that they felt it was not the right time yet. She also said that they "have to fix stuff with Ali". Ali is the youngest son of Robin wtih ex-wife Liezel Sicangco.

The actress added the India wedding was called "nikah," a matrimonial ceremony between the bride, the groom and Allah. "It's between Robin, me, and God. It's a Muslim rite," Rodriguez said. About the issue with her family, she stressed that her grandparents knew about the wedding. During the interview, the new Mrs. Padilla shared that she has no regrets about marrying Padilla. At this point, she believes that the overwhelming love and happiness that they have for each other would help them surpass the hurdles along the way.

During an event over the weekend where the newlyweds were guests, they said that they may have their Catholic wedding ceremony on December 25.

Actress Angelu de Leon (real name Maria Luisa Angela Martinez de Leon) exchanged vows with her non-showbiz boyfriend, Lorenzo "Wowie" Rivera last September 17 in an intimate hotel wedding ceremony held at Sofitel Philippine Plaza.

Only 30 guests, composed of family members and close friends, attended their Philippine Christian wedding ceremony. Present during their wedding was actress Sherilyn Reyes with her husband Chris Tan. Two Baguio Wedding Ceremonies for Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez

News recently surfaced about action star Robin Padilla and TV host Mariel Rodriguez exchanging vows twice - a traditional Baguio wedding ceremony and one officiated by a pastor – last Monday, Sept. 13.

Based on said reports, Robin and Mariel wore ethnic attires during their Ibaloi wedding ceremony held at the compound of the Carino family in Camp 7, Baguio City. A mambunong (native Ibaloi priest), identified as Jimmy Ong, officiated their first wedding ceremony, which lasted for an hour-and-a-half. Only a handful of guests were present at the wedding, including Robin’s son, Ali.

As part of the ethnic wedding ceremony, the newlywed celebrity couple drank tapuy (rice wine) as a symbol of their love. Later, Robin and Mariel performed the tayaw dance, to show the public that they are now husband and wife. A pig was offered and its blood was smeared on the face of the newlywed couple.

After their Ibaloi wedding, the two again exchanged vows in a wedding ceremony officiated by a pastor. As of press time, no details about the second wedding were available.

Robin, a known Muslim convert, said that the reason why he chose to tie the knot in an Ibaloi wedding ceremony is because his mother, Eva Carino, is an Igorot.

A report from Philippine Entertainment Portal published today posted a statement by Robin sent through his manager, Bethcay Vidanes.

Mariel Rodriguez’s camp has not aired any statement regarding their wedding. Mariel’ manager, Boy Abunda, said in an interview that he was also surprised about the wedding news.

Boracay Wedding Resorts Now Offering Lower Accommodation Rate

Are you a soon-to-wed couple who dreams of a Boracay wedding but can't afford one? This might be a good time to rethink your option as some resorts in Boracay are now offering lower accommodation rates.

In an interview, Boracay Foundation, Inc. (BFI) President Loubelle Cann said that some resorts in this famous Philippine wedding destination are offering discounts on room accommodation by as much as 50 percent to counter the canceled reservation of tourists from China and Hong Kong. According to Cann, the cancellation was triggered by the recent Qurino Grandstand hostage crisis.

Ms. Cann said that though the incident was an isolated case, they still have to deal with the loss of bookings. Based on recent interviews, Boracay Island resorts and hotels reported already having lost a total of PhP 7.4 million worth of reservation one day after the incident. Department of Tourism Western Visayas Regional Director Edwin Trompeta said that the losses could reach up to P20-30 million, if other expenses like transportation, food, souvenirs, and other services are factored in.

Ms. Cann, however, is optimistic that the situation will normalize in two months' time and the influx of domestic tourists, like soon-to-wed couples, will make up for the current loss. She said the lower rates plus the good weather on the island would hopefully attract more local tourists. To complement the discounts offered by Boracay wedding resorts and hotels, BFI has asked airline companies offering flights from Manila to Caticlan or Kalibo, Aklan, which serves as the jump-off point to Boracay, to offer airfare discounts as well.

On the other hand, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industries - Boracay Vice President David Golberg said that they have not monitored any such undertaking among their member resorts and hotels.

More Pinoys Having Civil Wedding Before “Grand” Philippine Church Wedding

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) revealed that more soon-to-wed couples are opting for a Philippine civil wedding first before having a “grand” Philippine church wedding.

In an interview with CBCP Episcopal Commission on Family and Life Executive Secretary Fr. Melvin Castro over Radyo Veritas, soon-to-wed couples prefer to have simple or, in other cases, free civil weddings because they are less expensive. “It’s not because of the church fees but because as Filipinos, they want to prepare for a church wedding,” Fr. Castro said. However, he explained that it is not the Catholic Church that requires couples to have an extravagant wedding. He cited that Filipinos are very particular that their Philippine church wedding should be grand so they postpone it in order for them to save up.

On the other hand, Fr. Castro also explained that couples are now tying the knot at an older age. Therefore, the number of people having a church wedding is going down. Based on the Catholic Directory, the number of church marriages is set to drop from 177,940 in 2008-2009 to merely 166,0000 this year until 2011.

Fr. Castro mentioned about the “glaring phenomenon” of many Filipinos having interracial and inter-religion marriages. Based on a data he presented, marriages between Catholic Filipinos and non-Catholics increased, from 8,900 in 2008-2009 to 10,200 this year. Although the Church allows this, mixed marriages must have a just and reasonable cause.

Actress LJ Moreno (real name Lari Jeanne Lacsamana Ricafort) and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player Jimmy 'Mighty Mouse' Alapag tied the knot in a beach wedding ceremony at Laguna Beach in Orange County, California, USA last Thursday, August 19.

The simple and private wedding was attended by the newlywed's families and friends, including fellow actress Ruffa Mae Quinto.

In an interview with The Buzz correspondent Monet Lu, LJ said that she was glad she waited this long for it to happen. She also promised her husband that she will make their "home a happy place to come home [to] so [Jimmy] will always gonna want to come home. I promise to be a great mom to our kids, I love you."

The PBA cager said that he is honored to have their families and close friends at their wedding. He added that the challenges in their relationship made them stronger.

Prior to getting married, they became a couple in 2003 but broke up in 2008 due to personal misunderstandings. They got back together in 2009 and the Filipino-American point guard of Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters proposed to her on October 1, 2009.

PNoy Shuns Divorce, Allows Remarriage for Legally Separated

President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III said that he does not favor the legalization of divorce here in the Philippines. This was in response to the refiling of a bill that seeks to legalize divorce in the country. Based on reports, President Aquino said that he could not support “something like they do in Las Vegas.”

“The stereotype is you get married in the morning [and] you get divorced in the afternoon," the president said. However, President Aquino recognized that there are relationships that despite interventions and counseling, cannot be 'saved'. Instead, he offered the more 'stringent' legal separation as a resolution but suggested that the law allowed legally separated couples to remarry.

Divorce, Pinoy-style

Last July 27, Gabriela Women's Party List Representatives Luzviminda Ilagan and Emerenciana De Jesus filed a bill that seeks to add divorce as another legal measure for couples in failed and irreparable marriages aside from legal separation, declaration of nullity of the marriage and annulment. Furthermore, the bill stated in the explanatory note that “divorce could actually provide protection to battered women and their children from further violence and abuse.”

The said bill provides five grounds for the filing of a petition for divorce. These include:
  1. separation in fact: parties separated for five years wherein reconciliation is highly improbable
  2. legal separation for at least two years wherein reconciliation is highly improbable
  3. when the grounds for legal separation cause the irreparable breakdown of the marriage
  4. psychological incapacity
  5. when parties suffer from irreconcilable differences that cause the irreparable breakdown of the marriage
Congw. Ilagan said that they were disappointed over the response of President Aquino towards their bill, saying that House Bill No. 1799 (An Act Introducing Divorce in the Philippines) will not be a “Las Vegas-style” divorce. “HB 1799 was carefully crafted to take into consideration Philippine values and traditions that give utmost importance to the way Filipinos appreciate the family as an institution. HB 1799 is divorce, Pinoy-style,” Congw. Ilagan said.

On the other hand, Democratic Socialist Women of the Philippines National Chairperson Beth Angsioco said that the statement of the president about legally separated couples to remarry is “tantamount to divorce.”

Sen. Pia Cayetano responded that the public “should not hastily jump to conclusions or second-guess President Aquino based on the brief statement.” Furthermore, she expressed support for President Aquino's idea, stressing that amendments could be made to the Family Code of the Philippines that would allow legally separated couples to remarry.

Based on the Family Code of the Philippines, legally separated couples are not allowed to remarry. Only annulled couples are allowed to do so.

Reactions

The refiling of the said bill was met with both opposition and support. Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara said that Philippines would become like other countries where couples get married and not take it seriously. Parañaque Rep Roilo Golez said that ratifying the law would give married couples a weapon of mass destruction that they could use against each other even for petty, solvable marital problems. Eastern Samar Rep. Ben Evardone and Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga also agreed that divorce would weaken the foundation of the family. Meanwhile, Marikina Rep. Romero Federico Quimbo opined that the bill would not prosper since many members of the Congress are for the preservation of the sanctity of the family. According to Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, having a divorce bill may do more harm than good. The strongest opposition came from Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, saying that divorce is against the teaching of the Catholic Church.

On the other hand, Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr. and Akbayan Rep. Walden Bello supported the bill filed by their colleague. Representative Bello said that existing laws are not enough to protect human rights. In addition, having a divorce law would pave the way for the attainment of the full human development and self-fulfillment of the estranged couple.

Divorce in the Philippines Legal Before?
Incidentally, divorce was allowed during the American occupation, pursuant to Divorce Law of 1917 (Act No. 2710) and during the Japanese occupation, pursuant to Executive Order No. 141, until 1950. The implementation of the Civil Code and Family Code of the Philippines in 1949 and 1987, respectively, disallowed divorce in the Philippines.

No Wedding Bells for PNoy and Shalani - Yet

Wedding bells will not yet ring for President Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III and his girlfriend, Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad. But it will – someday. That is what Malacañang clarified after the President joked about getting married in an event at The Palace last Friday.

During the oath-taking ceremony of the officers of the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), President Aquino teased OPM President Ogie Alcasid that the singer-songwriter and Regine Velasquez will be his wedding godparents when he ties the knot. "Sa Disyembre, ako ang magiging abay nyo. Pagdating naman ng panahon, kayo ang magiging ninong at ninang ko," (On December, I will be one of your groomsmen. When the time comes, you will be my godfather and godmother) Aquino said.

Prior to the event, Ogie and Regine announced that they are to tie the knot before the year ends. President Aquino will serve as one of their groomsmen on their Philippine wedding.

In an interview, Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said that the President is only 50 years old and is in a position to decide on his status in life. Furthermore, Lacierda said that he does not discuss with Aquino about the latter's personal life.

In an interview after Congress proclaimed him as the winner of the 2010 election, President Aquino said that he would consult popular fortune teller Madam Auring (real name Aurora Erfelo) if she could predict whether he and Coun. Soledad would get married this year. The showbiz psychic said that the President would not yet walk down the aisle until a year or two.

Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez to Tie the Knot This Year

Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid has announced that he and his girlfriend, Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez, will tie the knot before the year ends

Last Sunday, August 8, during their noontime variety show Party Pilipinas, Alcasid said that his petition for annulment with his first wife, beauty queen Michelle Van Eimeren, was granted on June 21, 2010. Furthermore, this will finally allow him to marry Regine who has been his girlfriend for almost seven years.

After the said announcement, Ogie thanked the Velasquez family, her fans, his own family, and their friends in the industry for supporting the decision and being with them throughout the years. After, the Asia's Songbird said that their wedding would be a celebration of what they already have.

In an interview after his announcement, Ogie said that some of his principal sponsors include TV5 owner Manny Pangilinan, GMA-7 Chairman and President Atty. Felipe Gozon, GMA Executive Wilma Galvante, Belo Medical Group owner Dra. Vicky Belo, Megastar Sharon Cuneta, and Cebuana Lhuillier owners Michel and Amparito Lhuillier.

Ogie added that he will be getting President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III as his groomsman. During the recent presidential election, both Regine and Ogie campaigned for President Aquino.

Prior to the singer-songwriter's formal announcement, Sharon Cuneta preempted Alcasid's revelation during her recent concert in Araneta Coliseum. She said that she will be one of the principal sponsors during the couple's wedding due this year.

Although the couple has not yet divulged the wedding date, reports state that they will exchange vows on December 22, 2010 in either a garden or a beach wedding ceremony.

Rust and Corrosion Threatens San Sebastian Church

San Sebastian Church, one of the most popular Philippine church wedding venues, is slowly falling apart as rust and corrosion creep into the foundation of this all-steel church.

In an interview, Ms. Tina Paterno, project director of the San Sebastian Conservation Development Foundation (SSCDF), said that the Basilica Minore de San Sebastián at Plaza del Carmen in Quiapo, Manila, is in dire need of restoration as rust has gotten into this popular Philippine church wedding venue She said that at least 36 kilos of steel have fallen from the ceiling and other parts of the basilica.

To save the structure, the Foundation intends to look at the church, determine and remove the unstable parts to make the church safe for the those hearing Mass and holding their Philippine weddings here.

Fr. Rene Paglinawan, Board member of SSCDF, has appealed to the community to help them preserve the neo-gothic and only all-steel church in Asia.

Completed in 1891, the San Sebastian Church was declared as a National Cultural Treasure by former President Ferdinand Marcos through Presidential Decree No. 260, signed in August 1, 1873. On May 16, 2006, San Sebastián Church was included in the Tentative List for possible designation as a World Heritage Site, on account of its architectural and historical heritage.

According to local historian Ambeth Ocampo, Gustave Eiffel, the French engineer behind the Eiffel Tower and the steel structure within the Statue of Liberty, was involved in the design and construction of the church. With its outstanding architecture and accessible location, Basilica Minore de San Sebastián has become one of the most sought-after Philippine church wedding venues.

Mark Lapid and Tanya Garcia Tied the Knot in Pampanga

Showbiz couple Mark Lapid and Tanya Garcia (real name Tanya Katherine Rosales Lyttle) exchanged vows last July 30, 2010 at the Marissa Hall in Porac, Pampanga in a Philippine civil wedding ceremony.

In attendance were Mr. Patrick and Mrs. Cristina Lyttle, the bride's parents, Senator Manuel 'Lito' Lapid and wife Marrissa, the groom's parents, and other members of the Lyttle and Lapid family.

In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, the couple said that they already planned out their Philippine church wedding this year. But when they found out that Tanya was pregnant, they decided to move the date of their church wedding and opt to have a Philippine civil wedding ceremomy first.

Mr. and Mrs. Mark Lapid also shared that they were somewhat nervous as they said their 'I do's' in front of Porac Mayor Condralito "Carling" Balatbat Dela Cruz who solemnized their wedding. The new Mrs. Lapid felt like it was a church wedding because of the number of guests present during the event.

The former Pampanga governor admired his new wife for enduring all the controversies that hounded their relationship in the past. News broke out during the 2007 elections that Mr. Lapid was actually married a Korean national named Yuri Park in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA last March 2005, with whom he has a daughter. His certificate of candidacy given to the Commission on Election stated that his civil status is 'single.' He kept mum about the issue until the marriage was annulled on September 8, 2009.

Mark and Tanya Lapid have a two-year old daughter, Mischa Amidala. Tanya is due to give birth to their second child by November 2010.

Teacher Eyes World Record for Most Bridesmaids in Wedding

Bridesmaids have become significant in Philippine weddings. Aside from looking good wearing traditional Filipino wedding gowns, they support the maid of honor and help with the numerous pre-wedding tasks like wedding planning and organizing a bridal shower. On the wedding day, they likewise double as usherettes.

Philippine wedding tradition does not limit the number of bridesmaids in a wedding. But one bride from Ohio, USA decided to do more out of her bridesmaids. Dance teacher Jill Stapleton aimed to set a record in the Guinness World Records for the most number of bridesmaids in a wedding - 110. The last unrecognized attempt to set the said record was 90.

The dance school teacher tied the knot withChad Greenhill, a cheerleader from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia last July 10, 2010.

She asked her students -- all 110 of them -- to be her bridesmaids and walk down the aisle at her wedding. The now-Mrs. Greenhill asked her students to choose their own dress. Unlike Philippine wedding tradition, she allowed her bridesmaids to wear gowns with different designs. Her only requirement was that they wore teal or purple, the dance studio's color. In lieu of traditional bridal bouquets, each bridesmaid carried a rose as she marched down the aisle.

As of press time, there has been no confirmation if the said attempt has been recognized by the records organization.

Bride-to-be Receives Winning Lottery Ticket from Groom-to-Be

A bride-to-be from Ballwin, Missouri, USA received probably the best gift in the world from her groom-to-be: a $250,000 winning lottery ticket.

Thirty-three year old Rob Russell bought his fiancee, 29-year old Tracy Rogers a "$250,000 Payout" scratchers ticket at the local QuikTrip convenience store. When they opened the scratch-off lottery ticket, they soon realized that they have just bagged the top prize.

In an interview with the local press, Ms. Rogers said that she thought the ticket was fake. To verify, she went to the store and showed it to the clerk to confirm its authenticity. True enough, the ticket was real and she received a high-five from the attending clerk.

Ms. Rogers and Russell have been together 12 years and got engaged in 2007. They have not yet set a date for the wedding. Currently the two have been unemployed for quite a while. However, the bride-to-be said that they don't think it was right to use the money on a big wedding. Instead, they would like to pay off the mortgage on their house first - one big burden they won't have to think about in their upcoming married life.

Cebu Hailed as Best Honeymoon Destination at China Fair

The beautiful beaches, romantic resorts, and breathtaking view of Cebu City received a well-deserved commendation as the Queen City of the South was recently hailed as the Best Honeymoon Destination during the World Trade Fair 2010 held at Shanghai, China.

The Department of Tourism (DoT) revealed the news last Wednesday, June 9 after Cebu was declared winner after a public vote and a strict evaluation process undertaken by professional jurors from the Shanghai Tourism Municipal Administration, VNU Exhibitions Asia, and Shanghai International Conference Management Organization.

In his interview with the press, DoT Secretary Joseph 'Ace' Durano said that they are not surprised that more and more travelers, especially couples, are finding its pristine white beaches, romantic resorts and breathtaking views, coupled with the innate warmth and friendliness of our locals, a perfect treat for their honeymoon trip.

Sec. Durano added that the said recognition of Cebu is a “noteworthy indication of the country’s growing tourism charm among many travelers across the world.” He also stressed that the country’s competitive tour pricing and the continuous development of the transportation sector are influential drivers of tourism growth in the island-province.

DoT Undersecretary for Tourism Planning and Promotions Eduardo Jarque, Jr., who received the award during the said travel fair, said that the citation is “an affirmation of the country’s world-class tourist spots and its unfailing efforts to reach out to new markets”.
