Auspicious Wedding Dates for 2012

Gong Xi Fa Cai! As the Chinese New Year celebration was concluded, people from all walks of life were eager to hear what the Feng Shui experts had to say about their luck for the year 2012.

The period from January 23, 2012 to February 9, 2013 is known to be the “Year of the Dragon”. Dragons ultimately symbolize power, success, and good fortune. So just as married couples are rushing to give birth to Dragon babies, soon-to-wed couples are trying to set their wedding dates within the Dragon year.

Date selection based to the Chinese almanac Tung Shu are widely followed by many soon-to-wed couples as they have been known to bring good luck to the newlyweds. Tung Shu is a compilation of Chinese astrology and calendar studies gathered through thousands of years. These auspicious wedding dates then help couples choose a good wedding date in hopes of a happy and fruitful marriage.

Here are the auspicious wedding dates gathered from three different sources for the Year of the Dragon:

May – 5, 7, 9, 12, 18, 19, 24, 27, 31
June – 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12, 13, 15, 27, 28, 30  
July – 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 22, 23, 28, 29, 31
Aug – 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 23, 25, 31
Sep – 3, 5, 8, 13, 18, 20, 22, 25, 28, 30
Oct – 2, 9, 12, 16, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27
Nov – 2, 5, 11, 17, 23, 25, 26, 29
Dec – 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 13, 18, 21, 30

However, it is important to know that these dates are generic in nature. This means that date selection may still differ depending on the birth dates of the couple. In addition to dates, auspicious hours can be chosen as well.

There is also a lot more to choosing the dates for weddings which may need the advice of a Feng Shui expert. However, auspicious dates should be used in a rational matter as being too superstitious about it won’t do anyone any good.

Shalani Soledad-Roman Romulo Wedding Set this January 22

Local TV Host and Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad Pasig is all set to wed Pasig City Representative Roman Romulo this January 22.

Some have already tagged the upcoming union as "2012 Wedding of the Year." But according to the couple, they only want a quiet, simple wedding as they chose to donate their wedding budget to the victims of Typhoon Sendong.

Some published details about the Roman-Shalani wedding:

- They will tie the knot in St. Benedict's Church in Silang, Cavite.
- They are looking at holding their wedding reception beside the man-made lake in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

- Their wedding motifs will be green and violet, Rep. Roman's favorite colors. 

- Inno Sotto will design Shalani's wedding gown - simple, made of lace, without embroidery or embellishment.

- The couple's sponsors are Sen. Ping Lacson, Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, Congresswoman Cynthia Villar, and TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan.
- They are planning to go to Amanpulo, Palawan for their honeymoon.

They first met in June last year and announced the engagement 3 months after. It is a whirlwind romance. But Shalani (turning 32 this April) and Rep. Roman (aged 44) are mature enough and has been through relationships to be able to discern and decide.

The two also share many similarities - from being both shy and quiet to their dedication to public service. As Shalani shared, one cannot set standards in falling in love, it just happens. And whether it's fate or good luck, she found in Rep. Roman Romulo the man she would like to spend the rest of her life with.

Jolina Magdangal - Mark Escueta Wedding Scrapbook

A Love Written in Ink, Paper Clips and Souvenir Tickets

TV singer-actress Jolina Magdangal and Rivermaya’s drummer and founding member Mark Escueta tied the knot yesterday, November 21, 2011 at 3:30 PM in a Christian ceremony held in Splendido, Tagaytay City.

Their wedding invitation, which is a 28-paged personalized scrapbook intricately crafted by sister companies Printsonalities and Written in Ink (Wink), contained not just the details of their wedding but a sneakpeak of their story as a couple.

The scrapbook wedding invitation had photos of the couple from childhood to their travels together as a couple, intimate photos of their families, entourage and souvenir items and meaningful snapshots that tell of their love and friendship. The said scrapbook invitation also includes replicas of their plane tickets/boarding passes, movie and theme park tickets which were all weaved seamlessly with the travel photos of the couple.

Other interesting details of their scrapbook invitation were paper clips shaped into their initials J♡M and another one that formed the word “love” which were done by Jolina and Mark themselves, yes all 300 of them. :) The scrapbook is full of the couple’s personal hand-written notes to the members of their entourage and a paper doll illustration of their color motif, turquoise and coral, which they wanted their guests to wear on their wedding day. :)

Jolina has ten bridesmaids which include celebrities Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo and newlywed Kyla. Mark, on the other hand, has twenty groomsmen, which include Bamboo, some of his current Rivermaya bandmates and Jolina’s brother Athan. Some of the principal sponsors include singer Jaya, TV actress Beverly Vergel, news anchors Arnold Clavio and Mel Tiangco and politicians Franklin Drilon, Ronaldo Puno and Gibo Teodoro.
