Roman-Shalani: A Modern Wedding Rich in Filipino Tradition

Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad and Pasig City Representative Roman Romulo sealed their union with a kiss at the St. Benedict Church of Ayala Westgrove Alabang in Sta. Rosa, Laguna last January 22, 2012.

All 500 seats of the Church turned their attention to Shalani as she walked down the aisle in a simple yet elegant white off-shoulder wedding gown by Inno Sotto. Shalani’s well-proportioned figure made her look effortlessly stunning in her Kate Middleton-inspired bridal gown with lace bodice and a skirt made of 17 layers of soft tulle. The groom on the other hand kept it classy and simple with a midnight-blue tuxedo, a white shirt, and a silver bow tie by Hugo Boss.

The bride was given away by her mother Evelyn Soledad Yumol and her close uncle, Mon Soledad who looked after Shalani when she was young in the absence of her mother. Shalani was born out of wedlock and only met her real father last year.

The simple and solemn Romulo-Soledad wedding ceremony started at sunset and lasted over an hour. There were 22 principal sponsors coming from both business and political sectors. What stole the show, however, were the 21 flower girls that all refused to walk down the aisle without their nannies by their sides.

The wedding reception followed at the Nuvali Evolving Center Dockside which is just a stone’s throw away from the Church. Guests indulged in sumptuous dishes prepared by caterer Florabel Co including Angus Rib-eye Beef, Chicken Binakol Soup, Smoked Salmon and Romaine Lettuce Salad with Quezo de Bola Cheesecake and Suman Latik with Batangas Chocolate for dessert. Apparently, the couple wanted to inject a Filipiniana theme to the wedding especially with choices for the menu. Both Shalani and Roman are fond of tapsilog which explained their selection of Angus beef.

Soledad especially requested for dirty ice cream to be included in the menu. A sorbetero with a traditional ice cream cart proved to be a big hit among the guests. Famous wedding cake makers Penk Ching and Shen Ratilla made a multi-layered wedding cake just for the couple with lace décor inspired by the bride’s wedding dress.

Those close to the couple all wished them a great life together as husband and wife. Groom’s side Lupe Romulo even shared her hope for the couple to have lots of kids. Both being public servants, the coupled requested their guests to donate to the Tropical Storm Sendong victims in lieue of wedding gifts. For the couple’s giveaways, half of the wedding guests went home with St. Benedict medallions while the other half pieces of dark chocolates packaged in small bags made exclusively for the special event.

Jolina Magdangal - Mark Escueta Wedding Scrapbook

A Love Written in Ink, Paper Clips and Souvenir Tickets

TV singer-actress Jolina Magdangal and Rivermaya’s drummer and founding member Mark Escueta tied the knot yesterday, November 21, 2011 at 3:30 PM in a Christian ceremony held in Splendido, Tagaytay City.

Their wedding invitation, which is a 28-paged personalized scrapbook intricately crafted by sister companies Printsonalities and Written in Ink (Wink), contained not just the details of their wedding but a sneakpeak of their story as a couple.

The scrapbook wedding invitation had photos of the couple from childhood to their travels together as a couple, intimate photos of their families, entourage and souvenir items and meaningful snapshots that tell of their love and friendship. The said scrapbook invitation also includes replicas of their plane tickets/boarding passes, movie and theme park tickets which were all weaved seamlessly with the travel photos of the couple.

Other interesting details of their scrapbook invitation were paper clips shaped into their initials J♡M and another one that formed the word “love” which were done by Jolina and Mark themselves, yes all 300 of them. :) The scrapbook is full of the couple’s personal hand-written notes to the members of their entourage and a paper doll illustration of their color motif, turquoise and coral, which they wanted their guests to wear on their wedding day. :)

Jolina has ten bridesmaids which include celebrities Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo and newlywed Kyla. Mark, on the other hand, has twenty groomsmen, which include Bamboo, some of his current Rivermaya bandmates and Jolina’s brother Athan. Some of the principal sponsors include singer Jaya, TV actress Beverly Vergel, news anchors Arnold Clavio and Mel Tiangco and politicians Franklin Drilon, Ronaldo Puno and Gibo Teodoro.

November 28, 2011 was truly a "Beautiful Day" for local singer Kyla and professional basketball player Rich Alvarez as they finally tied the knot in Santuario de San Antonio, Forbes Park, Makati City. There were earlier talks of a December wedding for the celebrity couple but final wedding date was not disclosed until recently. 

Joining Kyla (Melanie H. Calumpad, in real life) in this momentous occasion are celebrity friends Rachelle Ann Go and Jolina Magdangal.

Pia Guanio Ties the Knot

“It was very solemn, very meaningful and it was very heartfelt.” This is how TV host Pia Guanio describes her wedding with businessman boyfriend (now husband), Steve Mago.

Pia confirmed last Sunday that she and Steve had their relationship blessed last October 1. Pia claims that it was not actually a wedding ceremony but just a Christian blessing. That is why they made it as private as possible. She also shared that they preferred just a few guests to be able to concentrate on the ceremony, on the blessing. 

However, Pia later on admitted that the “Christian blessing” was actually a civil wedding since, as she stated, “nagkapirmahan na ng kontrata”.

Pia said that the material wedding preparations, which were spearheaded by Steve and his family, took only a couple of days, but their “spiritual preparation took a month”. It was their Victory Christian Fellowship pastor, Paolo Punzalan, son of late Ms. Helen Vela and Orly Punzalan, and brother of Princess Punzalan, and his wife Jen, who guided the couple as they prepare themselves for the event. He was also the one who officiated the Christian blessing.

The 5:30pm intimate Christian blessing/civil wedding happened in the garden of the home of Steve’s parents in Ayala Alabang, and was witnessed by only around 50 family members and closest friends of the couple. Pia revealed that most of her showbiz friends did not know of the occasion. She further admitted that even Jerome Salaya, who created her simple short beige wedding dress, did not know that he was working on Pia’s dress for such occasion.

She also shared that during the intimate ceremony, she was crying and everyone else was crying. She said that every single person in the garden really felt the presence of God, and it was as if there was no typhoon (Quiel).

Pia also addressed the people who were not at the ceremony that there will be more public events in the future. She revealed that she and Steve are planning to have the church wedding in Europe next year.

Kyla and Rich: December Wedding

Local celebrity singer Kyla and professional basketball player Rich Alvarez have announced some of the long awaited details of their wedding.

Though they did not disclose their exact wedding date, they have announced that it will be on December, before Christmas day. The traditional wedding will be held in a church in Manila.

Confirmed ninong and ninang are Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. Included in their list of secondary sponsors are Jolina Magdangal and Rachelle Ann Go. She also shared that almost all of them are her co-workers in GMA-7’s musical-variety show Party Pilipinas and other close friends.

Cocoy Lizaso will be designing Kyla’s wedding gown. Some of the wedding details will be prepared as soon as Rich is back in the country from Dubai.

The photo shoot was done in the Virgin Beach Resort in Batangas where the couple posed with the breathtaking view of the land and seascape.

Kyla plans to surprise Rich on their wedding day with her own musical composition. She admits that she found it difficult to write a song for their wedding day but she knows that the song will come as their wedding comes close.

Wedding Bells for Vicki Belo

The would-be bride was just as surprised as all of us when news came out that Hayden proposed last December in the Downtown Aquarium in Texas.

Shown in an episode of “Rated K” in ABS-CBN, Hayden Kho proposed to Vicki Belo by asking two divers in the large aquarium to hold cards that said, “Hayden loves Vicki.”

“May nagdive sa aquarium na malaki. Sabi naman nito (Hayden), silipin natin kung sino yung nag-dive. Tapos, tumingin ako, ang sabi ‘Welcome to Downtown Aquarium.’ Ang cute. Tapos, next tile, ‘Hayden loves Vicki,’” Vicki said. 

Though the proposal was done months ago, it was only announced in July because of the many controversies and issues that have come their way throughout their relationship. The public has also been scrutinizing the couple because of their age gap, the opposition of Vicki’s children, and the video scandal involving Hayden and other female celebrities.

“Kase gusto namin to enjoy it privately kase alam namin na ganito nga ang mangyayari pag sinabi namin, ang daming batikos. Daming nagsasabi na hindi magwu-work,’ Vicki said in the “Rated K” interview.

Being truthful about the topic, Hayden said that there are people who are for and against the engagement. Their friends, on the other hand, showed support by sharing how Vicki and Hayden loved each other.

The exact date of their wedding is yet to be announced. They already have a wedding month in mind but they do not want to mention it to the public yet.
She shared though that it is possible that she will choose Monique Lhuiller to make her wedding dress.

To remove the risk of looking like being after Vicki’s money, Hayden asked for a pre-nuptial agreement to separate their own properties.

With everything that has happened in their relationship, Vicki said that the changed Hayden has made it worth enduring. “Sabi ko nga sa kanya, if I have to go through all that para lang maging ganito ka na, medyo worth it na rin, di ba? Kase nga sobrang naging mature, sobrang nagchange,” Vicki said.

A Thank You from Lani to Bong on their 25th Wedding Anniversary

Celebrity couple and political figures Lani Mercado and Bong Revilla have just recently celebrated their 25^th wedding anniversary and renewal of vows last May 28.

It has been widely publicized that the Revilla family life did not come as easy as some other families. They have had their fair share of problems that were also under public scrutiny.

Their wedding was a huge affair with celebrities and political figures gracing the ceremony and the reception. But behind all the glitter and shine of the silver gowns and tuxedos worn on that day, it cannot be overlooked how the love between husband and wife has endured for more than two decades. Their vows were heartfelt, sincere and touching.

"I never suffered because I love you, our children, our family. The love makes us strong through the trials," her voice trembled as she held Bong's hands and faced the altar. "Thank you for teaching me how to forgive. Now, I know myself more.  Thank you for teaching me to be a public servant like you."

Lani also clued people in on who wanted to bring them down.  “We made it through”, she told Bong, "despite the  you-know-what department."

Bong gave Lani his message as a reply, "I am yours alone forever," and that he will always "choose her to be his wife and mother of his children."

Married life is certainly not easy. Lani and Bong’s 25 years of being together shows that love and marriage can endure the most difficult trials life can throw at you. It is a process of learning and growing together as a couple. May they be an inspiration to other married and soon-to-be married couples.

Alfred Vargas – Husband and Father; Wedding Bells this 2012

In an interview last June 1 with Ricky Lo for Startalk TX, actor turned politician Alfred Vargas publicly revealed that he was indeed a husband and a father.

Vargas said that he and his family kept their marriage a secret because his wife, Yasmine Espiritu, was not a showbiz personality and the family requested for it to be a private matter.

“Gusto ko talaga sabihin from the start, pero yun nga, gusto nila private. Hindi naman kasi showbiz si Yas, at alam mo naman baka maintriga pa kaya mas mabuti ngang private na lang muna,” Vargas explained.

Their civil wedding ceremony took place August last year at the Supreme Court of the Philippines. They revealed that Espiritu was already pregnant by then. She gave birth to their child, Alexandra Milan, in Italy two months after the wedding.

Despite the public not knowing about Vargas’ family life, he stressed that he never really hid the relationship since his ABS-CBN teleserye “Mutya” co-actors and other friends knew about it.

“Pero siyempre at this point,  I'm a public figure and I would like to thank you for giving me, or my family the opportunity na para masabi ko rin na I'm proud I'm married and I have a very beautiful wife, and I will love her forever and we're happy family,” he said.

Vargas also expressed his content with his life saying, “at this point in my life, I think everything is perfect.”

By 2012, Vargas plans to marry Espiritu again, this time for a church wedding. It was scheduled for last March but was pushed to a later date because of the death of Vargas’ father last January.

Lani and Bong’s 25th Wedding Anniversary and Renewal of Vows

Senator Bong Revilla and Representative Lani Mercado are not just public officials and local celebrities. Their 25 years of being together as a married couple has proven that they are also committed husband and wife to each other.

The Wedding
In celebration of their 25^th wedding anniversary, the couple decided to renew their vows at the Shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City, South of Manila.

Silver was of course the color motif of the day as the renewal of vows took place on their silver wedding anniversary.

Present at the wedding were of course their children as well as their five grandchildren. Eldest daughter, Inah del Rosario was matron of honor. Sons Bryan Revilla and Ramon Jolo Revilla III stood by their father’s side as best men.

With the celebrity and political status the couple has, principal sponsors came from politics, business and showbiz.

Some principal sponsors are former Presidents Joseph Estrada with wife Loi Ejercito, Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Fidel V. Ramos.

Other principal sponsors are Amelita Ramos, Mayor Alfredo Lim, Gretchen Cojuangco, former Senator Ernesto Maceda, Rep. Cynthia Villar, former Speaker Jose de Venecia and wife, Rep. Bong and Lani’s children also performed the song “I’ll be There” sang by the girls, and “Lean on Me” by the boys. Other family members were also present. Bong’s father, former senator Ramon Revilla was there with his brother Strike Revilla and sister Andrea Bautista-Ynares.

Also present were Sen. Loren Legarda, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, Assunta de Rossi, Gladys Reyes, Ricky Davao, Rez Cortez and Paul Cabral, the designer of Lani's gown.

To further make the wedding more special and memorable than it already is, the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra also serenaded the guests. La Diva singing trio also performed the song “The Prayer”.

Bong and Lani’s love story was performed through a dance interpretation on stage while a video of friends and relatives’ messages and comments on the couple were also shown.

Zsa-Zsa and Dolphy Wedding?

If people can recall, Philippine's Divine Diva Zsa-Zsa Padilla and Comedy King Dolphy were all set to get married in Las Vegas 7 years ago. Wedding invitations were already sent and Zsa-Zsa's wedding gown was already made but the wedding had to be cancelled last minute.

The wedding 7 years ago was cancelled because technically Zsa-Zsa was still married since her annulment was not yet finalized.

In Ricky Lo's Philippine Star Column last May 21, he stated that the court has finally granted Zsa-Zsa's petition for annulment with finality.




With Zsa-Zsa's annulment papers finalized, the people are now wondering whether the long-delayed wedding will finally push through.




In an interview, Zsa-Zsa said that she did not know yet whether a wedding will happen. She also jokingly said that Dolphy has not yet proposed and she did not want to assume anything.

Zsa Zsa Padilla on “Karylle-Yael Wedding”

The Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla in an interview in ABS-CBN News said that she has nothing against a possible marriage between her eldest daughter Karylle and Spongecola frontman Yael Yuzon.

In the interview, she shared her belief that Karylle is already of age to make her own decisions in life.  

According to Zsa Zsa, once a child turns 18, he/she should already be considered adults and therefore should have the freedom of choice.

The Karylle-Yael romance was made publicly known by Yael's brother and Pupil's lead guitarist, Yan Yuzon last January. It turns out that the two had been a couple since 2010 though they have always been mum about it and frequently refused to answer questions straightforward.

Mike Enriquez Spills on Pia Guanio - Steve Mago Wedding

TV and radio broadcaster Mike Enriquez shared his scoop on TV host Pia Guanio and businessman Steve Mago wedding. According to Enriquez in a taped interview, the newly-engaged couple is thinking of having a beach wedding.

In GMA News show “24 Oras” last May 11, Guanio confirmed her engagement to Magno after barely a year of being together as a couple.

Though there’s still no set date and venue for the wedding, it's already been reported that Guanio’s “24 Oras” co-anchors Enriquez and Mel Tiangco will stand as two of the principal sponsors.

The engaged couple also guested in Enriquez's DZBB radio show where each spoke lovingly about the other. Both of them seem to share values of being family-oriented and spiritual - qualities which endeared them to each other more.

Enriquez approves of the two, saying in an interview, “Aprub na aprub [ako] sa lahat.”

Cristine Reyes and Rayver Cruz on Secret Marriage

Controversial local celebrity couple Cristine Reyes and Rayver Cruz can add “Secret Marriage” to their long list of showbiz intrigues.

It was on April 24, Easter Sunday, when the news came out about the alleged secret marriage of the young showbiz couple. All eyes were on Cristine and Rayver as fans and viewers awaited confirmation or denial of the rumor.

“Confirmed or Denied”, a segment in the television program “The Buzz”, featured a denial by Cristine.

“Natutuwa lang kami pero ano, matagal pa ‘yun. Nag-iipon muna kami,” Cristine said in her denial of the rumor.

The rumor reportedly came from Cristine's response to an interview for a movie where she told the media that she and Rayver were already talking about marriage. However, she further clarified that they were just daydreaming and there are no concrete plans yet for a marriage.

But inspite of the denial, Cristine admitted that she thought Rayver would make a good provider especially as he was a good son and brother to his siblings.

Cristine have also admitted in another interview that she wants to get married before turning 30. The young couple are both 22 years of age.

Mariel and Robin: Married but No Babies Yet

Watching the Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez romance that led to marriage, people following the couple’s romance are wondering when the baby would come into their new family. But the celebrity couple shared in an interview that both of them are choosing not to have a baby yet.

Robin and Mariel prefer to enjoy their union as long as they want to.

Robin shares in an interview that he wants to remain Mariel’s only “baby” for now. Mariel agrees and said that she also wants to give her full devotion to her husband for now.

The celebrity couple married last year at the historic Taj Mahal in India with Muslim rites. Their marriage was kept secret until they revealed it in an interview. They are planning to celebrate a Catholic wedding despite the Catholic Church saying no to Robin-Mariel Catholic wedding.

Robin and Mariel will be appearing in a film called “My Pledge of Love” with Robin’s daughter, Queenie Padilla from ex-wife Liezl Sicangco.

Robin Padilla on Catholic Wedding

MANILA, Philippines – Robin Padilla’s reaction to retired Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz's comment on the Robin and Mariel planned Catholic Wedding on June might include a letter to the Vatican.

About two weeks ago, Cruz commented that the Catholic wedding of the celebrity couple will be prohibited because some Islam beliefs in marriage are not in line with that of the Catholic Church. It was in August 2010 that Mariel and Robin wed secretly in Taj Mahal in India under Muslim rites.

"Dapat rin siguro sumulat rin tayo sa Vatican, ano? Kasi nando'n naman ang Canon Law eh. [Para malaman] kung ano ba talaga ang ruling," Padilla said in an interview.

"Kasi kung ang pagbabasehan natin ay 'yung mga naririnig lang natin at 'yung mga papeles na nanggagaling sa ating mga mahal na obispo, mas maganda na 'yung manggaling direkta dun," he reasoned.

Robin is working hard and talking to various people to make clear of the issue as it is Mariel’s dream to have a Catholic Wedding.

"Pangarap niya [Mariel] 'yun eh. Wala namang Katolika na babae na hindi nangangarap na lumakad sa altar at ihatid ng kanyang magulang. Sa ngayon eh mananatiling pangarap," said he.

Apart from possibly involving the Vatican in their marital dilemma, Padilla is consulting various priests for help. Though he understands Cruz’s objection, he stresses that the Church should not worry since he is already separated from his ex-wife Liezl Sicangco.

Regine and Ogie: Newlyweds on their New Baby

It is finally confirmed! Last April 17, Sunday, Regine Velasquez confirmed that she and Ogie Alcasid are indeed expecting their first baby.

"Alam kong marami na kayong naririnig pero syempre maganda rin na sa amin mismo manggaling kung ano talaga ang nangyayari. Totoo po na Ogie and I are going to have a baby," Regine said.

Seven weeks pregnant, the singer-actress apologized for not confirming the news sooner.

"Pasensya na po kayo at hindi po namin agad sinabi. Hindi naman sa nililihim namin. But I was always getting sick, kaya minabuti namin na wag na muna magsalita para maayos ko muna yung sarili ko at yung ibang bagay na kailangan naming ayusin," Regine said. "Pero ngayon po, clear na naman lahat at siguradong sigurado na rin po kami na it's true, we're going to have a baby, and it's a happy birthday gift for me."

Regine reportedly left her TV show “I Love You Pare” because she was having severe migraine attacks.

"This is probably one of the happiest birthdays na nagkaroon ako. My wish is for my baby to be healthy kahit ano, kahit babae, kahit lalaki, so sana healthy lang sya," Regine said via phone patch on "Party Pilipinas.

Congratulations to Ogie and Regine! One thing we do know for sure is that their baby will be awesome in the music department :)

Celebrity Singer Rachel Alejandro Finds 'The One'

Rachel Alejandro is marrying Spanish journalist Carlos Santamaria in Boracay and guess who’s writing a wedding song for her? That’s right, her ex-boyfriend Dingdong Avanzado.

“I was very appreciative that he made a song [for me and Carlos], for the wedding… It's called 'The One’,” said Rachel in an interview.

“Maganda, maganda 'yong kanta… I haven’t heard the whole thing yet but I was touched that he did that,” she said.

Several days from now the big day will happen soon but Rachel still did not disclose the exact date of her wedding.

For some curious folks out there thinking why she is not wearing an engagement ring, Rachel said it was because no formal proposal took place. Their decision to get married only occurred to them during their short stay in Vietnam.

“We spent a few days there and then nag-usap lang kami. We said, ‘You know what, kung ganito tayo kasaya lagi we should get married.' And that was it,” Rachel said.

Though happy as any bride can be, she disclosed that marriage will not be easy especially with her future husband’s job.

"Naloka-loka ako noong pinadala siya sa Japan recently with the radiation and all that, talagang umiiyak ako. Sabi ko, ganoon pala talaga. Siyempre, he's a reporter, kailangan niya," she said.

Rachel enjoys taking care of their wedding preparations and she appreciates her family’s help. "Everyday, it's like we're doing things together. This is parang part of the whole process and I'm really enjoying every minute of it," she said.

Geneva Cruz and Ricky Rivero will be her maid of honor and man of honor, respectively.

Catholic Church Says NO to Robin-Mariel Wedding

Lingayen Archbishop Oscar Cruz, the National Appellate Matrimonial Tribunal head declared in an interview that the Church would not allow Robin and Mariel’s Wedding.
Why? The main issue against the wedding was not the Muslim rites administered to the couple but the difference in the teachings of the two religions. Under Islamic Law, the husband is allowed to have more than one wife.

"Ang balakid po diyan, hindi yung kinasal siya [Robin and Mariel] sa Muslim rites. Ang balakid po diyan, ang simbahan, tulad ng maraming simabahang Kristiyano, isa nga diyan ang Katoliko, para sa kanya ang kasal ay para sa isang babae, isang lalake. Tapos ang kwento, panghabang buhay. Eh dun po sa mga Muslim karaniwan sa kanila…naniniwala na ang isang lalake pwedeng dalawa ang asawa tatlo hanggang apat. Sa simbahan hindi pwede ikasal yun pagka't yung kasal na ganun ay walang bisa. Anumang relihiyon para makasal kayo sa simbahan kailangan maniwala kayo sa kanyang aral. Isang lalake, isang babae pang habang buhay. Pag po kayo naniwala na ang isang lalake ay katumbas ng dalawang babae o tatlong babae ay hindi na po pwede yan," the Archbishop said.

Archbishop Cruz said that he respects the Islam religion and therefore they should also respect the teachings of the Catholic religion. He added that even if Padilla promises that this marriage will be his very last, the Church’s approval for their marriage will still not materialize.

Robin and Mariel June Wedding: Mariel Reveals Her Bridesmaids

The Catholic wedding of Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez is reportedly set on June this year. Although details are not yet final, the future bride already revealed her future bridesmaids.

Mariel divulged to the public that two of her closest showbiz friends,  Bianca Gonzales and Toni Gonzaga, will be her bridesmaids on her wedding day.

"I asked Bianca already before. Si Toni rin natanong ko na 'yan before eh," saidMariel.

"Tapos 'yun ang threat ko kay Bianca: 'Bianca, if you don't do this, hindi na kita gagawing bridesmaid sa kasal ko' or 'Bianca, thank you so much for doing this. Promise, bridesmaid ka sa kasal ko' or 'Thank you so much, Bianca. I'm gonna name my firstborn Bianca'," she said.

Salon owner-stylist Pin Antonio was revealed to be one of their primary wedding sponsors.

Some of the country’s best designers have already pledged to design her wedding gown and the gowns of her entourage. These are Pepsi Herrera, Francis Libiran and Avel Bacudio.

Mariel also said that the wedding will also be open to the public.

Ogie’s Charity Work Inspired by Marriage

Contrary to the gossip going around that Ogie’s charitable endeavors are interfering with his marriage, Ogie said that married life has actually inspired him to do charity work.

“Quite the contrary, my married life has made me do all this work. I am very much happily married and that is why I have the capacity to share my time and effort because God has blessed us with so much.”

“Ogie and Regine’s Ukay-Ukay” is the couple’s way to raise funds for the Kapuso Foundation. This April 15 to 17, during the Heat Wave Summer Bazaar at the World Trade Center, the couple would be soliciting pre-owned personal belongings like clothes, bags, shoes or accessories from celebrity friends to sell at the bazaar.

The money would go to the construction of 50 classrooms every year in challenged and remote communities in the country.

“It’s a very good idea but I don’t know if it will be an annual event. We need to raise P35 million to rehabilitate schools that have been destroyed by calamities,” explained Ogie.

The funds will be for alleviating shortage of classrooms which now totals 146,946, as reported by the Department of Education.

Lily Monteverde, movie producer, has already donated P1 million to Ogie and Regine’s cause.

Marriage has truly been fruitful not only to Regine and Ogie but also to the students they will be able to help.
