Weddings: Online and Offline

Millions of people around the world are now into massive multiplayer online games or MMOGs such as the World of Warcraft (WoW) and Ragnarok Online. As the numbers of players grew, players become romantically involved and the MMOGs developed to keep things interesting for them. Lo and behold, online weddings of players came to be!

Couples who are both into MMOGs can choose to get married both in the virtual world and the real world. Couples can invite guests (with a sense of humor and who share the couples’ passion for online games) to their "virtual wedding".

Aside from having guests, there are also wedding venues, flowers, wedding rings and even wedding packages to purchase in the game. Sony’s MMO “Everquest” introduced a wedding package purchasable with real money that includes a private wedding chapel that can fit 99 guests, magic wedding rings, virtual wedding cake and customizable flowers.

and offline love story that remained strong despite challenges. She dropped everything and went to live with her Night Elf Hunter.

On the other hand, couple Jef and Jin Yoon remarried in World of Warcraft through their alter egos Akma and Aquma. One of the perks of online wedding? Guests who weren’t able to witness their real life wedding got to share the couple’s happiness through online instead.

Ding Dong Dantes’ Secret Marriage Proposal?

Ding Dong Dantes and Marian Rivera are one of the most famous showbiz couples today. As Valentines Day came and went, the people had speculations on the status of the two.

Speculations started when a columnist spotted the couple’s sweetness at a birthday party. The columnist also noticed Marian wearing a ring that she was reportedly hiding from the press. Marian explained to the media that the ring she was wearing was not an engagement ring, but a ring bought by her. Ding Dong also explained that Marian collected rings.

Ding Dong also denied the engagement controversy and said that they were still enjoying their time as a couple and that there is a right time for everything. He said that they had no future marriage plans yet.

The couple reportedly spent their days together before Valentines Day in Hong Kong. They were scheduled to be in Hong Kong from February 11 to February 14. But after leaving on the 11th, the couple immediately went back to the Philippines on the 12th for Party Pilipinas. Marian made a special guest appearance at Lovi Poe’s birthday special in Party Pilipinas thus needing to come home early.

Wet and Romantic: Underwater Wedding in Hundred Islands Park

ALAMINOS CITY – A day before Valentine’s Day, a couple renewed their wedding vows underwater near Kagaw Island, a part of the Hundred Islands.

Mike Sision, Alaminos Tourism Officer, said that the couple really wanted an underwater wedding but it was only now that they were able to make arrangements for it. They renewed their vows while fulfilling their dream wedding underwater. Mayor Hernani Braganza of Alaminos City, Pangasinan officiated the wedding ceremony with eight licensed scuba divers to witness the event.

Alaminos City also invites other couples who would want to have an underwater wedding to arrange it with the Alaminos Tourism Office. The important requirement is that the couple knows how to scuba dive.

The showbiz couple John Estrada and Priscilla Meirelles had their beach wedding last 26th of February, a Saturday, 3:30 p.m. at the Thunderbird Poro Point Resorts in Poro Point, La Union.

The celebration was held starting February 25, Friday at the said resort. On the 1st day, there was a golf tournament for the men and a spa party for the ladies at 11 a.m. Wedding rehearsal was also held on the same day at 6 p.m. and the rehearsal dinner party at 7 p.m.

Some of the prominent members of the entourage were Manuel Pangilinan, Governon Chavit Singson, Dr. Vicky Belo, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Kris Aquino, Ogie Alcasid, Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan, Gabby Concepcion, Randy Santiago and Ai-Ai delas Alas.

ABS-CBN has been reported to have exclusive rights to cover the event.
